Spread the love

This New Moon is one of the most auspicious of the year, culminating on November 14th at 9:07 pm PST.

Diwali is one of the biggest festivals in India, celebrated annually on the New Moon following the Durga Puja festival.

Diwali is considered one of several New Year celebrations of the Vedic Calendar, and is more commonly known as the ‘festival of lights’.  Homes and Businesses light small lamps that symbolize the banishing of negative energy, and the victory of light over the darkness.  Although New Moons are not considered favorable, this does not carry that energy and instead is a very auspicious day.  Puja or worship to the Mother Goddess is performed, most commonly to Lakshmi or Kali, though regionally a different form of the Mother may be propitiated.

On our microcosmic level, prayers and offerings of thanks are very appropriate tonight.  It is also a good night to consider our inner work of how we move through our own darkness and how we can bring more of the light of divinity into our lives.

There have been some positive shifts in the sky, in that both Mars and Mercury have now gone direct, and in fact all planets are direct at the sky at the moment.

Retrograde energy can make us feel stuck and internalized, yet is often calling us to revisit or reevaluate some aspects of our life.  Now with all the planets moving direct we can feel that forward movement again.

Venus will also be transiting its own sign of Libra from November 16th to December 10th. Venus in its own sign of Libra can enhance the creative, beautiful, and connective energy of this planet of Love, much more than was happening over the last couple weeks when Venus was in Virgo.  Venus in Virgo puts too much brain into the heart, and now in Libra the energy of love can get expressed more naturally.

Mercury will also be joining Venus in Libra until November 27th which enhances the sweetness of our speech.  Unfortunately, in Libra both Mercury and Venus are receiving the aspects of Mars and Saturn, which can make us frustrated in our communications. Mercury’s transit with Venus in the sign of Libra tells us to remember kindness and connectivity in our communication to mitigate these difficult transits as much as we can.

Jupiter is about to move into his sign of debilitation in Capricorn on November 20th.

This is not expected to be a very good transit on a global level.  We had a taste of this in late March to late June of this year when Jupiter transited out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn for 3 months.  Jupiter’s natural expansive and positive energy gets constricted in Capricorn, particularly when it joins Saturn, who has already been there since the beginning of the year.  This transit will remain until early April and speaks to a challenging winter for many.  It is important to remember that the difficulties we are seeing are for the purpose of restructuring our belief and value systems, and therefore will create positive change in the long term.  In the short term, we are most likely in for some interesting times!  The best we can do is to pay close attention to our physical and spiritual health and wellness as much as we can, to be as best equipped as possible to face the challenges that may come.

Love and Blessings,

Mrinmoyee is in a long term love affair with Mother India, the land of her spiritual birth. She has lived primarily in India for the last 2 decades, and while she appreciates most all aspects of the culture, Vedic Astrology, Meditation, and Devotional pactices have been her primary focus.

Having grown up on the East coast of the United States, she deeply sees the need for the Vedic sciences in the modern Western life. She lived for 10 years in an Indian Buddhist spiritual community in North India where meditation and seva (service) were the foundations of her practice. Here she experienced the traditional teachings passed down through a lineage that is customary in India. As her interest in Vedic Astrology grew it took her to different regions and teachers of India and the US. She has studied Vedic Astrology for the last 10 years, and has given hundreds of readings to people all over the world in the last 5 years.

She offers introductory workshops on Vedic Astrology, and retreats in India. But the main focus of her work is personalized birth chart consultations. She has studied with both traditional and modern teachers, and gives a traditional analysis of the chart combined with a modern, applicable interpretation. While Vedic Astrology is Hindu in its origins, a person need not be following that path to benefit from her readings. Advice on career, relationships, finances, ideal living locations, and spirituality are just some of the areas of life that can be covered in a session.
