Welcome back to week 13 of Pilates With Marilyn

This week we will focus on pilates repertoire for people with neck issues. Often when we focus in on a lot of core, that’s inherent in pilates work, those that have any sort of disc issues within their neck, chest lift may not be available to them or they don’t quite have the neck strength they need yet to keep it in the front of the neck in the deep neck flexors and out of the base of the skull, they leave pilates complaining that it really bothers their neck.

This week we will talk about options, modifications, and p.s. I’m gonna tell you a secret, if you do pilates without doing a chest lift, it’s actually harder. You’re working the most elongated versions of your muscles so never think of it as a modification or lesser, just think of “what’s right for my body” versus “what’s not great for my body.” And build up from there.

Additionally, some of the traditional moves such as bridges can put uncomfortable pressure through the neck so what are options to allow for those activations without the negative consequences in your body.

She believes that all pursuit of happiness and purpose begins by anchoring yourself spiritually and loving yourself through the eyes of God.
